Grammar and Punctuation

We know it’s really important to learn spellings, grammar and punctuation at school and at home! Your teacher will give you homework on this, and may also give you independent tasks as well.

Don’t forget you can do your independent tasks on Learning By Questions:

https://www.lbq.org/

Here are some other websites you can use to help learn grammar and punctuation:

Spellings

Remember to learn your 10 key spellings off by heart. You will have 1 week to learn these.

If you go out for phonics, please learn your phonics spelling each week.  You can also practise the SCODE spellings too.

Some of you may also do the challenge spellings - this means you have 20 spellings to learn each week instead of 10.

You also need to learn your exception words for Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6.

Don’t forget, we have a big Spelling Bee every summer, so you better get practicing!

Writing

Remember it is so important to practise your best and neatest joined handwriting - that's how to earn your pen licence.

You can practise online using this website.

https://edu-tools.github.io/

You can also write your own diary, or just copy sections of a book or comic to work on your neatness!

Try using Pobble to inspire you to write about a different picture every day:

Show your teacher your best efforts, and you may feature on our amazing writer's wall...as Ralph Waldo Emerson said:

"The writer is an explorer.  Every step is an advance into a new land."
